In hip-hop news: Eminem best rapper?

Vibe magazine has voted Eminem “Best Rapper Alive.” He beat Nas? And Jay-Z? I actually don’t have an opinion on this, I’m just trying to prove I know which fellas are considered the best. Do I at least get street cred for having seen two of them in concert?

Here’s the news about it from MTV.

In crummier hip-hop news: Missy Elliott, who I consider a genius, has a cameo rap bit on the new Pussycat Dolls single (and its accompanying video). You know who the Pussycat Dolls are, they do the trashy kind of burlesque (not like Dita von Teese), all the girls dress like hookers and wear too much lip liner. They look like this:

Dang, Missy. Why? It’s okay to say no. Didn’t you learn from when Madonna suckered you into that Gap commercial?

Psssst, raise you hand if you think Missy has something in common with Queen Latifah.

Queen Latifah on the lesbian rumors:

from a profile in the New York Times magazine, which featured this amazing pic:

“I don’t have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life… I don’t care if people think I’m gay or not. Assume whatever you want. You do it anyway.”

‘SNL,’ Tina Fey reenact the VP debate

If you didn’t tune in to Saturday Night Live last night, you need to watch this video to prepare yourself for tomorrow’s water cooler chat – that is, if your workplace still has a water cooler. The newspaper I used to work for now charges its four remaining staffers for water. Gosh, I miss it there!

Here’s the link to Gawker’s post of the video because frankly, the web site still sucks. That’s Tina Fey again as Sarah Palin. Joe Biden’s played by whomever that guy is on the SNL cast that played Liz Lemon‘s Cleveland-bound boyfriend on 30 Rock, and a special appearance by Queen Latifah as moderator Gwen Ifill. Bravo all around.
